Large Turnout for a Grand Old Station

June 18, 2004

Union 514 members came prepared for the rain and cooked the fish to perfection.

Despite the rain there was a good turnout honoring Old Central.

Capt. Self used the rain to cleanup a little.

Retired Chief James Pope buys commemorative t-shirt from Katie Allen.

Chief Margene McCoy and Sig 51's Mike Lowe.

Hard to believe that this kitchen will not be used to feed hungry firefigters anymore.

On-duty firefighters get one more game in at Old Central.

These pole hole doors will not be used by firefighters again.

Many a firefighter slid down these poles over the 82 years.

We did not think the rain would ever quit.

Katie Allen sold a a lot of the t-shirts

Finally the rain stopped and it turned nice outside.

The personnel board was covered with plexiglass to preserve it for the future. Russell Teutsch's Photo

Russell Teutsch took this picture of all the rigs that were housed in Old Central.

Steve Wilkinson's band was great and enjoyed by all.

Steve Hill and Bob Woody chatting under one of the tents.

Upstairs, the TV-Room was empty.

The t-shirts were really neat.

The weights in the game room were neatly placed.

Real firebuffs would not miss this event for anything.

The old station must have been pleased with the turnout.

Outside there was a lot of chatting going on.

The kids really enjoyed climbing on the fire trucks.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening very much and it was a wonderful tribute to Ole Central.
