Southern Village Apartment Building
2-Alarm Fire
1-20-2008

Shreveport firefighters rescued and saved the life of a six-year-old girl by removing her from her burning apartment.  A Shreveport police officer Marcus Hines gave a 7 year-old boy CPR.  Police say the boy jumped from the second floor apartment, and was taken to the hospital along with his sister by Medic 15.  The boy was not seriously hurt, but the little girl was reported to be in critical condition later on the day of the fire.  The Children's mother had left them home alone and may face charges for doing so.

Flames destroyed the upstairs units of Building 400 in Southern Village Apartment Complex located at  3500 W. 70th Street.

Forty S.F.D. firefighters from the first and second alarm units took about 40 minutes before they declared the fire under control.

Signal 51 was paged out after the 2nd Alarm was pulled.  Members Guido Verbeck and Mike Gillispie took it in.
