2-Alarm Fire Destroys

At 21:33 Hours on 5-3-04

 

Engine 4 reports to Dispatch that they are answering a still alarm in the 2400 block of Milam accross and 300yds up the street from their station.

Engine 4 reports "Heavy fire on the interior of a two story building." Dispatch fills out the asisignment for the fire at 9:33PM.

Incident command pulls all firefighters out of building and initiates an exterior attack.

Command request a 2nd alarm.

Ladder pipes and deck pipes were used.

Fire darkened down and 2nd alarm companies were released from the staging area.

Before the evacuation order was given one firefigther was injuried when he fell though the 2nd floor and landed 15 feet below on the first floor.

Once the fire was knocked down the heavy appliances were shut off and hand lines were then used to overhaul.

Command radioed dispatch that the fire was under control at approximately 10:30PM

The injuries to the firefighter were reported to be not life-threatening.
