House Fire
603 West 83rd Street

At 10:38pm Shreveport Fire Department was dispatched to 603 West 83rd Street to a possible house fire with a man trapped inside. While enroute dispatchers notified all companies that the victim was sick and still inside the house. Firefighters arrived on scene with heavy smoke and flames coming from the A, B and D sides of the home. Engine 9 crew went in on search and rescue for the victim. Seconds later engine 9 firefighters reported the victim on the A side of the house. Caddo Parish Coroner's Office was dispatched to pronounce the man deceased. One onlooker hyperventilated and was treated on scene and released. The fire was under control within 30 minutes of the initial dispatch.
At 4:59am Shreveport Fire Department was dispatched back out to 603 West 83rd Street to the same house on fire again. Crews arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and flames visible from the B and D sides of the home.
Fire Investigators believe the first fire started in the living room and the second fire started in the insulation in the attic.
